Professional american heavyweight boxer, WBC, WBA, and IBF champion James Douglas with nickname "Buster" against american top ranked athlete and youngest heavy weight champion Mike Tyson with nickname "Iron". Fight took place in Tokyo Dome, Tokyo, Japan, on February 11, 1990. Spectacular boxing fight with knockout in HD.

I watch this fight every six months or so for inspiration. Training inspiration, but more so for the strength of the mind. Buster won this fight in his mind a thousand times before he ever locked eyes with Tyson. Never forget or downplay how great Buster fought on this evening

I still remember watching this fight on TV during my school dsys....at that point Tyson was virtually invincible, but Buster Douglas was absolutely fearless, perhaps Tyson never faced such an opponent till that time

Way better fight than I remember - I don't buy the excuses from Tyson's camp that he was out of shape and unmotivated - he was in pretty good shape and delivered thunderous punches including the uppercut that floored Douglas. But good for Buster Douglas - he always looked very competitive here and did the job; one of the biggest upsets of all time.

A glaring difference look at tysons 80s fights opening bell hes moving forward and trying to get the ko right away bo feeling out. With buster he was arbitrarily standing there right from the opening bell waiting for busters punches and he happily obliged.

Douglas won the fight. With the passing time you can see that Mike was a bit fat not onngood shape but then he should have prepared the fight. I read in boxing magazines at the times that Douglas declined all proposals for a rematch

For the first time , Tyson faced an opponent who wasn’t intimidated , wasn’t frightened & defeated before the opening bell . James Buster Douglas was sensational , & really cleaned Mike Tyson’s clock .. all in the wake of his mothers’ passing . Biggest upset in boxing history & I’ll never tire of watching it . * Also , Mike Tyson’s corner was piss poor that night . Hangers on , no knowledge or advice or even equipment .

Tucker & Smith were so uptight they couldn’t box fluently . All the rest , Holmes included looked deflated before the opening bell . Heck Spinks & Biggs looked like they were going to the electric chair !

@@evanbarr9270 Evan , are you saying that Thomas , Berbick , Holmes Ruddock , & Williams are examples of opponents who were NOT fearful & therefore defeated before the opening bell ? Because they were all frozen with fear & Tyson didn’t even break sweat defeating them . Now , Tucker went the distance , granted . But like James Smith , he was so tight he opted to survive & only went on the offensive in the last rd when it was too late . Tubbs was doing ok in Japan , until Tyson took him out with a big shot & his legs went , & all of his confidence evaporated . It’s just my opinion , but only Buster Douglas & Evander Holyfield had absolutely no fear of Mike Tyson , boxed their fight not Tyson’s & that’s why they beat him handily .

Buster used his reach that wouldn't allow Mike to get inside. At this point Mike was lost with himself and his team. Buster had a great game plan that night.

This is when Mike truly realized that glory does not last forever. You could be at the top of the world and some random dude will ALWAYS come out of nowhere and be better than you at some point. Douglas taught Mike what humility really is, and I’m sure Mike saw life from a very different perspective after this fight.

Buster had been a top contender for years ,he was supposed to fight Tyson back in 87 but lost to Tony Tucker for the ibf.He staged a comeback shutting out Berbick ,oliver Mcall & mike white (union cane) all on Tyson' s undercard ,he had been watching Tyson and new how to fighf him.that and Douglas really is one of the most talented fighters ,just very unmotivated.Tyson was beaton fair & square ,in fairness to mike he defended 9 times agsinst excellent fighters .None where afraid ,Pinklon ThomaS was trying to take his head of ,they just did not have the speed .,but In shape Buster did.

This was the first Mike Tyson fight I ever watched live as a kid. I remember telling my step dad Mike looks like he has some extra weight and he scoffed and said he aint got an ounce of fat on him. No one could believe it, I believe this is the biggest upset in sports history ever if you account how famous Mike was at the time.
