I remember my parents were supposed to go to a party but my dad wanted to watch some of the fight thinking it would end early. Because the fight was so good, they end up staying home and me and my dad watched the entire fight together. Classic fight.

I remember watching that fight live. Buster Freaking Douglas...what a performance. It ranks up there with the top sporting events I have ever seen. Maybe only the 3rd Ali/Frazier fight...the Thrilla in Manila was better.

Buster really studied Tyson very much before the fight. Learnt all Mike's strategy. Getting too close to Tyson remained a dangerous mission due to his power packed hard punches. He kept Tyson at a distance throwing punches. He finally made that mistake and got knocked down with an upper cut. Tyson had to lean forward to throw his punch and slow in return which gave Douglas the opportunity to score. Buster always had to push Tyson away and used his longer hand to kept him at bay. I love this game.

Douglas was not afraid of Tyson and was well trained. He showed to others the way to beat Tyson. Even the count was slow , it was slow for each others.Douglas didn't stole the victory.

6:30 one of the best referee decision in the history of boxing. Any other ref would have stopped the fight at that moment, Buster Douglas was staggering, I'm not even sure he wanted to go on, no head signal, no clear indication, but the ref saw there was still life in him.

It's amazing to see Douglas dish out those shots on Tyson in the 10th round... it's like watching a lumberjack chop down a big ass tree.

Mike was still in decent shape physically but not mentally. And buster Douglas was mentally and physically up for it . Mike took a sustained beating from the second round until Douglas ko”d him in the 10th . For me still the biggest upset in boxing history.what a fight.🥊

Could you imagine seeing this live or on television live? One of, if not the greatest heavyweight of all-time knocked out by someone who wasn't really near his skill level or had as many wins, or even people cheering for him, everyone went to a Mike Tyson fight to see Tyson knock somebody out .. not the other way around. This is 1990 too .. not like Tyson wasn't in his semi-prime at that point. Lol I guarantee that entire stadium had their jaws on the floor. What an absolute crazy moment that musta been for Douglas, nobody and I mean NOBODY thought he was going to win this fight.

So far I have watched and enjoyed this match 100 times in my life but each time it appeares new and fresh to me. Don't know there is a unknown pleasure having enjoyed this match again and again. I haven't seen anyone mentioning this so jere it is "If u see after 6:24 u can easily see how slow the referee was in counting u can even see one guy counting behind...and that's how buster actually got an unfair chance to fight again.

Still remember going into a record store the next day and not being able to leave the escalator as there was about 80 to 100 people in front of the screens watching a replay of what Douglas did. Tyson at the time had an air of invincibility. Many were beaten before they entered the ring. Douglas had just lost his mum and this was what carried him through and gave him faith. Controversial win as Douglas was given the slowest count, but a win is a win.

Remember the morning after this fight my brother telling me " Tyson got knocked out". Didn't believe him , and when I watched the replay the thing I noticed was Buster's punches had some power behind them and he was roughing Tyson up . Mike wasn't on form and also as well as the ice bucket and endswell his corner forgot they also forgot the clowns noses. The boxing ring is the wrong place to come unprepared but Buster's win was well deserved.

Douglas was the only one I saw who really took down Tyson at his prime & without fear . That's really impressive .

People say that the ref gave Buster a slower count than Tyson and I honestly can't see a single shred of evidence to support that whatsoever. He started counting immediately as Buster hit the floor and gave him a reasonably paced count.Yeah they say it was a 13 second, but has anyone bothered to measure the count the ref gave for Tyson? A ten count doesn't mean ten seconds by the watch necessarily, keep in mind the ref isn't using a pocketwatch. Idk how many approximate seconds Tyson's count was but it didn't seem different than Buster's count. Are we just gonna use the 13 second theory to ignore the fact that Tyson was obviously sluggish and way off his game that night while Buster gave an amazing performance? Buster was lightning fast, slick in his technique and that combo that sent Tyson to the mat was vicious. I see no solid reason to label this fight as a fix. Buster gave hell of a performance while Mike wasn't his usual self and that's all.

People blame the split with Kevin Rooney but you have to blame Aaron Snowell crap it would of helped if he had a proper ice pack instead of a glove filled with ice 🙄
